Malaysia’s Free Trade Agreements (FTAs)
To date, Malaysia has signed and implemented a total of 17 FTAs (8 bilateral FTAs and 9 regional FTAs) as well as 2 partial scope preferential trade agreements. Notably, in 2022, Malaysia implemented two mega-FTAs namely Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
In 2025, Malaysia’s trade with all FTA partners reached RM2.005 trillion, accounting for 65.5% of total trade. Exports to FTA countries amounted to RM1.067 trillion, while imports totalled at RM938.45 billion, marking a surplus of RM128.58 billion.

FTAs partial scope agreement
- The Framework Agreement on Trade Preferential System among the Member States of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (TPS-OIC)- Entry into Force on 1 October 2023.
- The D-8 Preferential Tariff Agreement (PTA) (D-8 PTA)- Entry into Force on 1 October 2023.
